I recently received my “surrogate wings” to ring in the new year (1/7/09) and I’m already considering to be matched for another cycle. They warn you in the beginning that it is “addictive” and you think, “No way!! Dealing with the changes of your body and hormones..” Well, that WAS me. I caught myself asking, “What in the world was I thinking?” in the beginning and then each trimester ;P – being matched (wanting to find “a perfect match”), being screened (hoping you qualify), starting medication (needles..OMG!!), and then going through the 9 months (getting “fat”) . Honestly, it is scary as a first time surrogate and each step you take, you say to yourself, “there’s no turning back now!” and in the end, you’ll be glad you never did!! That is me NOW! My question, “what in the world was I thinking?” was answered when I saw the smile on my intentional parents’ faces! All the little pricks, soreness, crazy/indecisive cravings, mood swings, etc. all pay off at that moment they see and hold their baby! As a mother of 3, I know what that is like and being able to give a couple that feeling of no one else is around, just you and your baby, is simply amazing and heartfelt. THAT is what is addicting. Surrogacy has fulfilled the void I was missing in my life and it will for you. It was also a wonderful experience for me and my family. It made us all realize the value of helping others through sacrifice and that sacrifice for nine months and a few hours in delivery is a lifetime that you give for another family!! I am so grateful to have become a part of “A Perfect Match”!
